Discover the Worlds Beneath the Waves and learn how the Royal Navy is leading in the study of our ocean. Use the kinetic sand display to carve out unique underwater trenches or the AI creator to make your very own sea creature to take home with you*.
Want more underwater adventures? Take a trip to the excavation of the Mary Rose with Dive the Mary Rose 4D. Feel bubbles pop as you dive down to where she lay hidden for centuries in this full-sensory experience.
We’re also launching Creepy Conservation week. See how our conservation teams protect our historic ships from nasty invaders and meet some of the bigger bugs that are vital to our survival. With events all across Portsmouth Historic Dockyard there’s so much to do this October half term.

Worlds beneath the waves
Prepare to explore the hidden secrets of the seabed as we take you below the water. Learn how HMS Challenger forever changed our understanding of the Earth’s ocean and altered the course of scientific history.
Meet the real ‘Boaty McBoatface’, the robot submarine working for the Royal Navy, and get your hands on our bathymetric globe, which maps the entire ocean floor. With innovative AI and AR technology Worlds Beneath the Waves brings the depths to you.
DIVE THE MARY ROSE 4D
Discover the untold story of the Mary Rose in our new experience, Dive the Mary Rose 4D. Be taken underwater and hear incredible stories of her life as King Henry VIII’s favourite ship before her untimely sinking, learn about the many failed attempts to find her as she lay hidden at the bottom of the seabed, and discover the cutting edge science that was used to bring her back to the surface.
This incredible, immersive, attraction uses multi-sensory features, meaning you can hear, smell, and feel as if you were actually there.
