Explore HMS Alliance, an authentic Second World War submarine. Discover HMS Holland 1, the first ever submarine built by the Royal Navy, or marvel at the tiny but mighty X24, measuring in at only 15 metres (50 foot). Our museum is located on the original site of HMS Dolphin, the home of Submarine Service for 100 years.Â
HMS ALLIANCE
Engage all your senses as you board HMS Alliance, a Second World War era submarine. Take a journey through every decade of her service, peek through the working periscopes, and see, hear, and even smell how life was lived under the sea.Â
SILENT AND SECRET
See what life was like on board the “Silent & Secret” Polaris submarines, using personal accounts and key displays drawn from those who served in the Polaris submarine fleet. This exhibition explores the history of the British nuclear at-sea deterrent, how it came to be, and the impact service had on those that lived on these vessels. Â

Built in 1901, HMS Holland 1 was the first ever submarine built by the Royal Navy. Recovered in 1982 and extensively rebuilt to her original standards see where the Submarine Service began. Â
