Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is proud to announce its inclusion in Tripexpert’s ‘Experts’ Choice Awards 2024’. The awards celebrate the top ranked hotels restaurants and tourist attractions across the world, with winners in 118 countries. Tripexpert’s Expert’s Choice Award is based on reviews from professional travel guides and tourism websites, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard’s award was based around reviews from Lonely Planet and Fodor’s.
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is operated jointly by the Mary Rose Trust and the National Museum of the Royal Navy, who both individually won their own Expert’s Choice Award this year. These awards were based on reviews from well-known outlets such as the Michelin Guide. Additionally, all 3 attractions are in the top 2% for Portsmouth on Tripexpert.
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard offers a spectacular range of naval history, including historic ships, such as the legendary HMS Victory, flagship of Vice-Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson and central to the Battle of Trafalgar and the iconic Mary Rose, Henry VIII’s favourite warship which was raised during the world’s largest underwater excavation and raising in 1982. Galleries and exhibitions throughout the museum tell the story of over half a millennium of naval history, from the extensive efforts to raise the Mary Rose from the Solent, to the rich history of scientific exploration in the Royal Navy.
