The archers of the Mary Rose and how to make a Tudor Arrow

Explore the world of Tudor archery and the archers of the Mary Rose with this 45 minute talk given by one of our expert guides.

Your talk will cover the Mary Rose collection of bows and arrows, Tudor archery methods and demonstrate how a Tudor arrow was made step by step. This talk will include the chance to handle real and replica bows and arrows from the Tudor period, and to examine a real Mary Rose arrow up close.

Your speaker will also give a live demonstration of the stages of making a Tudor arrow. This talk is perfect for archery and history lovers alike.

Please note: you must have a valid Mary Rose ticket to attend this talk alongside a £10 talk ticket.


  • Have a go archery – 12pm – 4pm, held in our Learning Centre – FREE Family activity
  • Live archery demos: given by Nigel and Glennan of Commotion Times, experts in historical archery using replica historical bows and in full costume, explore the world of archery in Tudor times and watch the experts hit the target! – 11am, 1pm and 3pm – FREE
