Join us for our badge-making workshop, where history comes alive! Explore the inspiring story of the Triangle girls who worked at Portsmouth Dockyard during World War I.
During World War I, while many men were away fighting, women stepped up in remarkable ways to support their country. Among these brave women were the Triangle Girls, who worked at Portsmouth Dockyard. They were part of an important workforce that refitted and repaired ships, worked as welders and even built submarines!
The Triangle Girls got their name from the brass badges they would wear at work, signifying that they were part of the war effort. By the end of WW1, 1,786 women were employed in different roles around the Dockyard, compared to before the war, where only 15 women were hired to sew flags.
Even though they faced challenges, the Triangle Girls showed incredible dedication and teamwork. By stepping into these roles, their hard work helped change how people viewed women in the workforce. Join us as we explore their inspiring story and learn about the vital contributions of women during this historic time.
Make your own unique pin badge using vibrant colours and designs inspired by the badges the Triangle Girls were named after.
